What’s more, nature preserves and state parks surround Lake Sunapee. Each one has plenty of outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts. From picnicking to kayaking, you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy.

  • Mount Sunapee State Park has swimming, hiking, picnicking, canoe and kayak rentals, boating, and fishing. During the winter months, it also has a snowboard and ski resort.
  • Rollins State Park is located on the southern slope of Mount Kearsarge. Activities include a scenic drive, picnicking, and mountain views. It also has a ½ mile trail to the summit of Mount Kearsarge.
  • Pillsbury State Park contains a diverse population of wildlife, including loons and moose. It also has numerous hiking and mountain biking trails that connect Mt. Monadnock with Mt. Sunapee, canoeing, and warm water fishing.
  • Winslow State Park is located on the northwest slope of Mt. Kearsarge. It has amazing views, a picnic area, and a one-mile hike to the summit of Mt. Kearsarge.
  • Wadleigh State Park has a beach where you can swim in Kezar Lake, a bathhouse, picnicking, and playing fields.
  • John Hay National Wildlife Refuge has many hiking trails and is home to the beautiful gardens known as “The Fells.”
